Purnima pervades sunrise kaal on more than one day (2027-06-17 100%, 2027-06-18 100%) — tithi-vriddhi. The day is decided by pervasion of the rite's own kaal, not by which day holds more of the tithi — “ह्रासवृद्धी न कारणम्”. This is darpa, and Vyaghra gives darpa to the later day: “खर्वेदर्पौ परौ पूज्यौ”. Suryodaya-vyapini: the tithi prevailing at sunrise governs the day, which is the general rule for vrats where no special kaal applies. Dharma Sindhu confirms it: “पूर्णिमामावास्ये तु सावित्रीव्रतं विना परे ग्राह्ये” — Purnima and Amavasya are taken on the later day, the Savitri vrata excepted.
