Griha Pravesh Muhurat 2027: 9 Shubh Dates
Trikaal Sandesh — Direct Answer
Griha pravesh muhurat 2027 has nine workable dates, from 11 February to 14 June, in Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha and Jyeshtha. No date fits January, April or July to December, because of Pausha, Chaitra with Kharmas, and Dakshinayana. Each date below was read at sunrise for Delhi NCR.
Deep Dive Analysis
Griha Pravesh Muhurat 2027: Quick Answer
There are nine workable griha pravesh dates in 2027: 11 and 25 February, 4, 10 and 11 March, 8, 21 and 31 May and 14 June. They sit in the months the classical text approves, which are Jyeshtha, Magha, Phalguna and Vaishakha, during the northern course of the Sun.[2] January, April and the months from July onward are left out for reasons explained below. Every date was read at sunrise for Delhi NCR and cross checked against the Trikaal Vaani panchang. For a date that also suits your own birth chart, use the free shubh muhurat calculator.
All 9 Griha Pravesh Dates in 2027 at a Glance
Thursday 11 February is Shukla Panchami with Revati. Thursday 25 February is Krishna Panchami with Chitra, but only until 09:33. Thursday 4 March is Krishna Ekadashi turning to Dwadashi with Uttara Ashadha. Wednesday 10 March is Shukla Dwitiya with Uttara Bhadrapada until 10:52, and Thursday 11 March is Shukla Tritiya with Revati until 11:20. Saturday 8 May is Shukla Dwitiya with Rohini. Friday 21 May is Krishna Pratipada with Anuradha until 14:51. Monday 31 May is Krishna Dashami with Uttara Bhadrapada, after Bhadra ends at 10:02. Monday 14 June is Shukla Ekadashi with Chitra, before Bhadra begins at 14:07.
How We Calculated These Dates
We computed every day of 2027 with the Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsha for Delhi NCR, and read the tithi and nakshatra at local sunrise, the way a traditional panchang does. A day was kept only when it passed every rule in this guide together. We then compared all nine dates with the Trikaal Vaani panchang engine and the tithi and nakshatra end times matched to the minute. Sunrise can differ by more than an hour between the east and the west of India, while the tithi and nakshatra end times in IST stay the same, so for a borderline date such as 25 February read your own city on the panchang page before you fix the hour.
What Muhurta Chintamani Says About Griha Pravesh
Muhurta Chintamani devotes its thirteenth chapter to entering a new house. The first verse names Uttarayana, the months of Jyeshtha, Magha, Phalguna and Vaishakha, and the soft and fixed nakshatras as the right frame for entry into a new house.[2] The next verses add the planets, the exclusions and the worship that goes with the entry. This is the text we used for every filter on this page, and each verse is shown with its Sanskrit in the Granth Sandarbh box. For the wider family of muhurat rules read the shubh muhurat calculator guide.
Why the Months Before February Do Not Appear
The Sun moves north from Makar Sankranti on 14 January 2027, and griha pravesh is approved only in this northern course.[1] The first lunar month after that is Pausha, which is not among the approved months, so the dates from 15 January to 7 February are left out. The text allows a wider choice of months only for special cases such as an old house or a house entered for fear of fire, and then it names Margashirsha, Kartika and Shravana.[3] If your situation is one of these, speak to an astrologer. For Makar Sankranti timing read Makar Sankranti 2027.
January 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat: Why There Is No Date
January 2027 has no griha pravesh date in this list. Until 14 January the Sun is still in its southern course, and griha pravesh is not approved then.[1] After Makar Sankranti the month is Pausha, which the verse does not name among the approved months.[2] A family that must move in January for a real reason, such as a transfer or a lease ending, is better served by the rented home page, which treats shifting into a rented house separately from entering a house of your own. Read the rented home shifting muhurat and the January 2027 vivah muhurat for how the same month is treated for other events.
February 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat
February has two dates. Thursday 11 February is Shukla Panchami, and Revati holds from sunrise at 07:06 until 05:42 the next morning, so the whole day is open apart from Rahu Kaal from 13:57 to 15:19. Thursday 25 February is Krishna Panchami, but Chitra ends at 09:33, so the entry has to happen between sunrise at 06:54 and 09:33. Both are Thursdays, the day of Jupiter, and neither carries Bhadra in the daytime. Revati and Chitra are both soft nakshatras.[2] See the same month for weddings in February 2027 vivah muhurat.
March 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat
March has three dates. Thursday 4 March is Krishna Ekadashi until 07:24 and then Dwadashi, with Uttara Ashadha running until 01:35 the next night, so the day is open apart from Rahu Kaal from 13:58 to 15:25. Wednesday 10 March is Shukla Dwitiya with Uttara Bhadrapada until 10:52. Thursday 11 March is Shukla Tritiya with Revati until 11:20. Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada are fixed nakshatras.[2] The Sun enters Meena on 15 March, which begins Kharmas, so no date after 11 March is offered. Compare with March 2027 vivah muhurat.
April 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat: Why There Is No Date
April 2027 has no date, and that is the classical answer, not a gap. The Sun stays in Meena from 15 March until the night of 14 April, which is Kharmas, and the lunar month from 7 April is Chaitra, which the text lists among the times to avoid for entering a house.[5] Even after the Sun enters Mesha the month is still Chaitra until early May. Families who feel pressed in April can hold a simple Ganesh puja at the new address without the formal entry and keep the ceremony for 8 May. The griha pravesh muhurat calculator helps you compare options against your own chart.
May 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat
May has three dates, all in Vaishakha. Saturday 8 May is Shukla Dwitiya until 11:43 and then Tritiya, with Rohini running until 21:53, so you can enter before Rahu Kaal from 08:58 to 10:37 or after it. Friday 21 May is Krishna Pratipada with Anuradha until 14:51, and Rahu Kaal is from 10:35 to 12:17. Monday 31 May is Krishna Dashami with Uttara Bhadrapada until 12:35, but Bhadra holds until 10:02, so the window is from 10:02 to 12:35. Rohini and Uttara Bhadrapada are fixed nakshatras and Anuradha is soft.[2] Read about the stars in Rohini nakshatra and Anuradha nakshatra.
June 2027 Griha Pravesh Muhurat
June has one date, Monday 14 June, which is Shukla Ekadashi in Jyeshtha with Chitra until 17:28. Bhadra begins at 14:07, so the entry should be done before that. Rahu Kaal is from 07:10 to 08:54, which leaves the morning window from 05:27 to 07:10 and the late morning window from 08:54 to 14:07. Chitra is a soft nakshatra and Jyeshtha is one of the approved months.[2] A second date, 5 June, was left out on purpose because Rohini ends at 07:02 and the early hours fall inside Gulika Kaal. After Jyeshtha Purnima the next lunar month is Ashadha, and the list ends there.
July to December 2027: Why the List Stops in June
Karka Sankranti falls on 17 July 2027 and the Sun turns to its southern course, which the text does not approve for griha pravesh.[1] That removes July to December from the list, and the same sentence names the other times that remove a date, namely a child or old Jupiter or Venus. A family that cannot wait should read the special cases and ask a trusted astrologer about an old house or a house entered for safety.[3] Most families simply plan for the next northern course, which starts at Makar Sankranti in January 2028. Use the free shubh muhurat calculator to see your personal Tara Bala.
The Four Months That Work: Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha and Jyeshtha
The first verse of the griha pravesh chapter names the months of Jyeshtha, Magha, Phalguna and Vaishakha for entry during Uttarayana.[2] We counted each month in the two common ways, the amanta count that ends on the new moon and the purnimanta count that ends on the full moon, and kept a day only when both agree. That is why the first date is 11 February and not earlier, and why the list ends in the middle of June. If your family follows one calendar strictly, the dates still hold, since we only kept days that are valid in both. Read the shubh muhurat calculator guide for the other life events.
Chaitra, Kharmas and Holashtak
The text lists Chaitra among the exclusions for entering a house.[5] Kharmas is the traditional period in which the Sun is in Meena or Dhanu, and in 2027 the Meena period runs from 15 March to 14 April. Holashtak is the eight days before the Phalguna full moon and in 2027 it falls inside the same window, so it adds no extra loss. These three together explain the long gap between 11 March and 8 May. The gap is protective, not punitive, and a short Ganesh puja at the new address is welcome in any month. For the festival side see the 2027 lucky dates and panchang guide.
Weekdays: Why Sunday and Tuesday Are Left Out
The exclusion verse rules out the days of the Sun and Mars, which are Sunday and Tuesday.[5] That is why none of the nine dates falls on those two days, even when the tithi and nakshatra are good. Of the nine, four are Thursdays, two are Mondays, and one each falls on a Wednesday, a Friday and a Saturday, so you have a spread of weekdays. Many families prefer Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and Saturday 8 May is included because the verse does not exclude Saturday. If a Saturday does not feel right for your family, choose another date from the list without worry.
Tithis: Rikta and Amavasya Are Left Out
The same verse excludes the rikta tithis, which are the fourth, ninth and fourteenth, and the new moon day.[5] Every date in this guide avoids them, and the tithi at sunrise is shown so that you can check. Some families also avoid Pratipada and Ashtami by custom, and one of the nine dates, 21 May, falls on Pratipada, so if your family keeps that custom, choose a different date from the list. The verse itself does not exclude Pratipada, which is why 21 May stays. A tithi can change during the day, so we also show when each tithi ends.
Nakshatras: Soft and Fixed Stars
The approved nakshatras are the soft group and the fixed group.[2] The soft group has Mrigashira, Revati, Chitra and Anuradha. The fixed group has Rohini and the three Uttara stars, which are Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada. Eight nakshatras in all, so roughly three days in ten carry one at sunrise. Our nine dates use Revati, Chitra, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Rohini and Anuradha. You can look up the stars in the nakshatra guide and find your own in the free nakshatra calculator.
Guru and Shukra: Both Must Be Visible
The text does not approve griha pravesh when Jupiter or Venus is set, young or old.[1] We checked both planets for every date. Jupiter stands in Cancer, its sign of exaltation, through June 2027, and Venus is clear of the Sun. Venus next sets on 7 July and Jupiter on 17 August, using the common limits of 10 and 11 degrees from the Sun, so no listed date is affected. A planet is read as young just after it rises and old just before it sets. Learn more about exaltation in planetary dignity and about the planet in Guru mahadasha.
Planet Placements in the Entry Chart
Beyond the calendar, the text looks at the chart of the entry moment. It asks for benefic planets in the kendra and trikona houses and malefic planets in the 3rd, 6th and 11th houses, and it asks for worship of the site and an offering to the beings of the house.[4] It also asks that the 4th and 8th houses of that chart be clean.[5] A panchang gives you the date, while the rising sign and planets at the exact minute come from a chart cast for the entry time, which an astrologer or a good calculator prepares. Start with the free shubh muhurat calculator and the janam kundali calculator for the family head.
Choosing the Hour: Bhadra, Rahu Kaal and Abhijit
A date opens a window, and the hour is chosen inside it. Avoid Rahu Kaal, which is shown for every date above, and avoid Bhadra, called Vishti karana, which affects two of the nine days, 31 May until 10:02 and 14 June from 14:07. Abhijit muhurat around midday is a common choice on days without a Bhadra clash, and on 11 February it runs from 12:13 to 12:56. On 25 February the window ends at 09:33, so the morning hours are the only option. See how to read the daily panchang in Aaj ka choghadiya and panchang explained.
Two Dates Left Out on Purpose: 15 March and 5 June
We left out 15 March because the Sun enters Meena at 07:00 that morning, so Kharmas begins in the middle of the day even though sunrise was earlier. We left out 5 June because Rohini ends at 07:02, only about 90 minutes after sunrise, and that short window sits inside Gulika Kaal. Other lists may include these two days, and a family with a strong reason can ask an astrologer for a closer reading. We preferred a shorter list that is safe to follow. If you do use a borderline date, keep the entry in the part of the day that carries the nakshatra and use the free nakshatra calculator for your own star.
Match the Date to Your Own Birth Chart
A general list is the first filter, and your birth chart is the second. The usual personal checks are Tara Bala from your birth nakshatra and Chandra Bala from your Moon sign, plus the dasha that is running. A date that is generally good can still sit badly against the Moon sign of the head of the family. Read about the Moon in moon sign in astrology, find your star in the nakshatra calculator guide and see how dasha shapes a purchase in dasha timing for a property purchase. The shubh muhurat calculator does the personal scoring for you.
Old Houses and Special Cases
The text treats an old house, or entry made for safety such as fear of fire, more broadly, and names Margashirsha, Kartika and Shravana as also suitable for these cases.[3] In practice this covers a family that has to move into a repaired old home outside the main window, or a family returning after a fire or flood. The case is exceptional, and it does not mean that any month will do for a brand new flat. If your house is old, discuss the exact month with an astrologer and use the same tithi, nakshatra and weekday filters. Compare with the bhoomi pujan and shilanyas muhurat for the earlier stage.
Rented Home Versus Your Own Home
Griha pravesh is the ceremony for a house you own or have just built. Many families treat shifting into a rented home as a lighter event and simply choose a good day and begin with a small puja. If you rent, read the rented home shifting muhurat, which is built for that case. If you are buying, check the timing of the purchase as well with property yog and multiple properties yoga. This keeps the formal entry rules for the case they were written for, which is a house of your own.
What to Prepare Before the Entry
Keep the plan simple. Clean the house, finish the main electrical and plumbing work, and keep water, a lamp and the Ganesh murti ready at the door. The text itself mentions the worship of the site and an offering to the beings of the house on the day.[4] Many families call a pandit for the havan, and a small havan at home is also fine. Many families enter with the right foot, with the head of the family and the elders first, and without worry, since the date is chosen so that you do not have to carry any. For personal remedies for a house, see the free upay calculator.
If None of the Nine Dates Fits Your Family
Do not force a date. The list is short because the rules are strict, and a family that cannot use any of the nine has three honest choices. Wait for the next northern course that begins in January 2028, use the old house exception with an astrologer, or hold a simple prayer and move in without the full ceremony, then repeat the formal entry later. A date chosen under pressure is worse than a quiet delay. For other home events you can also look at the new business muhurat calculator and the vehicle purchase muhurat calculator.
How Accurate Is This List and What It Cannot Do
The calendar values are computed, and they matched the Trikaal Vaani panchang engine to the minute on every date. The interpretation of the verses is ours, based on the text in the library and the common reading of its terms, and other schools may differ on a few days. The list is for Delhi NCR sunrise, it does not cast the lagna for your minute and it does not read your personal chart. For a real decision, treat it as the first of three filters, then check your own chart and a human reading. Calendars for weddings, which follow different rules, are in the Vivah muhurat 2027 guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best griha pravesh muhurat in 2027?
There are nine workable dates: 11 and 25 February, 4, 10 and 11 March, 8, 21 and 31 May and 14 June. The most open days are 11 February with Revati, 4 March with Uttara Ashadha and 8 May with Rohini, which hold for most of the day. Your own birth chart decides which one suits your family best.
How many griha pravesh dates are there in 2027?
Nine in the main list, all between 11 February and 14 June. They fall in Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha and Jyeshtha during the northern course of the Sun, and avoid Sunday, Tuesday, rikta tithis, the new moon and Chaitra.
Is there a griha pravesh muhurat in April 2027?
No. The Sun is in Meena from 15 March to 14 April, which is Kharmas, and the lunar month from 7 April is Chaitra, which the text lists among the exclusions. The next date after 11 March is 8 May.
Is there a griha pravesh muhurat in January 2027?
No date is offered in January. The Sun turns north on 14 January, and the lunar month that follows is Pausha, which is not among the approved months. The first date of 2027 is 11 February.
Which months are good for griha pravesh?
Muhurta Chintamani names Jyeshtha, Magha, Phalguna and Vaishakha during Uttarayana for entering a new house. Special cases such as an old house allow Margashirsha, Kartika and Shravana, and these are decided with an astrologer.
Which nakshatras are good for griha pravesh?
The soft nakshatras Mrigashira, Revati, Chitra and Anuradha and the fixed nakshatras Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada. The nine dates in this guide use Revati, Chitra, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Rohini and Anuradha.
Which days of the week are avoided for griha pravesh?
Sunday and Tuesday, the days of the Sun and Mars. The list also avoids the rikta tithis, which are the fourth, ninth and fourteenth, and the new moon day.
Can I do griha pravesh between July and December 2027?
The text does not approve griha pravesh when the Sun is in its southern course, which runs from 17 July 2027 to the next Makar Sankranti. Old houses and entry made for safety have a wider choice of months, so ask an astrologer if that is your case.
Do these dates work outside Delhi?
For most of India the date holds, since tithi and nakshatra are read at sunrise, but sunrise can differ by more than an hour between the east and the west of India, while the end times in IST stay the same. For a borderline date such as 25 February, when Chitra ends at 09:33, check your own city on the Trikaal Vaani panchang page before you fix the hour.
Do I need a muhurat for a rented house?
Many families treat shifting into a rented house as a lighter event, but a good day still helps. The rented home shifting muhurat page on Trikaal Vaani is built for that case, and griha pravesh rules are kept for a house you own or have just built.
