When Will I Get Married? Age 27-30 Myth
Trikaal Sandesh — Direct Answer
Marriage timing in Vedic astrology is read in two steps. The kundli's 7th house, 7th lord, Venus and Jupiter show whether marriage is supported; the running Vimshottari dasha and antardasha, confirmed by Jupiter and Saturn transits, show when. The result is a window, not a date. Check yours in the [free Shadi Kab Hogi Calculator](/calculators/free-shadi-kab-hogi-calculator).
Deep Dive Analysis
When Will I Get Married? The Short Answer
Astrology reads marriage timing in two steps. First it checks whether the chart supports marriage, using the 7th house, its lord, Venus and Jupiter. Then it looks for the window when the running Vimshottari dasha and antardasha point to those same planets while transiting Jupiter and Saturn also touch them. The output is a window of months, never a promised date. Trikaal Vaani's free Shadi Kab Hogi Calculator shows these windows from your birth details, and our Vivah Yog guide explains the promise side in depth.
How Marriage Timing Is Read From a Kundli
Think of marriage timing as a lock with three tumblers. The first is the natal promise: the 7th house, its lord and the karakas must be able to deliver a partnership. The second is the dasha clock, which says which planets are active in your life now. The third is gochar, the live transit of slow planets over sensitive points. When all three align, the event becomes likely; when only one does, it usually stays an idea. Everything below follows this order, so keep your Janam Kundali open and read how a kundli works if the terms are new.
The Age 27-30 Myth: Why There Is No Single Marriage Age
The popular belief that marriage comes at 27 to 30 is a statistical habit, not a Jyotish rule. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra lists marriage ages tied to specific combinations, and they range widely: the 5th or 9th year for one Venus-and-7th-lord arrangement,[3] the 22nd or 27th year when Venus sits in the 2nd and that house's lord is joined by Mars,[4] the 31st or 33rd year when Venus and the 9th lord both sit with Rahu,[6] and the 30th or 27th year for yet another pattern.[5] So 27 to 30 appears for one combination among many. Your age comes from your chart. See also our concept page on what age you will get married.
Step 1: Check the Marriage Promise Before You Look at Timing
Timing a marriage the chart does not support is guesswork, so confirm the promise first. Look at the 7th house, the sign on it, its lord and the planets joined to or aspecting it. Look at Venus, the natural significator of partnership, and at Jupiter. Then see how the lagna and the Moon each present the same houses. A promise can be strong, mixed or thin, and mixed is by far the most common. A mixed promise does not mean no marriage; it means the timing will depend more on dasha support and less on luck. The full catalogue of combinations is in the Vivah Yog in Kundli guide.
The 7th House and Its Lord: What They Show About Marriage
The 7th house, called kalatra or jaya bhava, is the house of the spouse and of formal partnership. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra says that when the 7th lord sits in its own sign or in its exaltation sign, the happiness from the spouse is full.[1] It also says that a 7th lord joined or aspected by benefics, or strong in its own right, makes a person prosperous, respected and happy in fortune.[2] Read these as signs of promise, not as dates. A 7th lord in a hard house or sign is not a refusal either, because dasha and benefic support can still open the door. For the basics of each house, see the houses guide.
Venus and Jupiter as the Marriage Karakas
A karaka is a planet that stands for a theme in every chart. Venus is the main karaka of romance, attraction and the partnership itself for everyone. Jupiter is traditionally the karaka of the husband in a woman's chart and a supporter of marriage, blessings and family growth in any chart. When Venus and Jupiter are dignified, unburnt and well placed, the promise gets a firm base. When either is weak, the answer is to read the rest of the chart before drawing a conclusion, and our Weak Planet Finder shows which of the nine grahas are actually weak. The Shukra antardasha guide goes deeper into Venus.
Reading From the Moon as Well as the Lagna
Phaladipika tells the reader to look at the 5th and 7th houses and their lords from the lagna and also from the Moon; if they are joined or aspected by benefics, spouse and children are both well supported, and if not, the text says success in them is not assured.[7] The practical lesson is to run both readings. A weak showing from the lagna can look better from the Moon, and the reverse is also true, so use the two together. If you do not know your lagna yet, first read how to find your lagna and check your Moon sign.
Step 2: Vimshottari Dasha and Marriage Timing
Vimshottari dasha divides life into planetary periods totalling 120 years, each split into antardashas. The idea is simple: an event ripens when the period running at that time belongs to a planet connected with it. For marriage, those planets are the 7th lord, Venus, Jupiter, the lagna lord, the planets sitting in or aspecting the 7th, and the planet that rules the navamsha sign of the 7th lord. You can see your own sequence in the free Dasha Calculator, and the Mahadasha explained page shows how a period is built.
Which Mahadasha and Antardasha Bring Marriage
Phaladipika names the dasha of a planet that sits in the 7th, aspects the 7th, or rules the 7th as a marriage-giving period.[9] It also names the dasha of the stronger among the lord of the 7th lord's navamsha sign, Venus and the Moon.[10] Jatakaparijata adds the period of the lord of the sign joined by Venus in the 7th, the lord of the sign holding the 2nd lord, and the lords of the 10th and 8th houses.[11] Most charts offer several candidates; the transit decides which one actually fires. See how dasha timing works for manifestation.
Venus Dasha and Marriage
Venus is the obvious planet to check, and its own period needs a careful read. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra says that in Venus's own sub-period within its major period, when Venus stands in a kendra or trikona from the lagna, in the 11th, or is strong, the results are good, including prosperity through spouse and children.[16] So a Venus period is supportive when Venus is well placed and merely neutral when it is not. A Venus period in the 20s or 30s does not guarantee marriage, but it removes a large share of the obstacles. Details of a Venus sub-period are in the Shukra antardasha and Vivah Yog page.
Jupiter Dasha and Antardasha for Marriage
Jupiter's dashas matter because Jupiter is the planet of blessings, family and the husband karaka. In a Jupiter major period, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra says Venus's sub-period, with Venus in a kendra, the 2nd or the 9th from the period lord, brings wealth, gain of a spouse and a meeting with seniors.[14] Within the same period, Mars's sub-period, with Mars in a kendra or trikona from the lagna or in its own or exalted sign, favours study and marriage matters, land and success in undertakings.[15] Read these as supportive conditions, not guarantees. The wider Guru Mahadasha guide shows the full 16 years.
Dasha of the 7th Lord, Lagna Lord and Planets Aspecting the 7th
Start with the simplest candidates. If the 7th lord's own period or antardasha is running and the lord is not badly placed, marriage is a natural theme of that time. The same is true for any planet sitting in the 7th or aspecting it, as Phaladipika notes in its dasha rule.[9] The lagna lord matters because it brings the person's own effort and readiness. If none of these periods falls in your marriageable years, the other routes in the previous sections still apply. Your Janam Kundali lists the lords, and the houses guide helps you find the 7th lord quickly.
Step 3: Transit (Gochar) Triggers for Marriage
The dasha says marriage is possible; transit says it is now. Phaladipika gives the transit test: when Venus or the 7th lord enters the trine of the navamsha sign of the 7th lord, marriage follows.[8] It adds that when the lagna lord transits the 7th sign, the gain of a spouse is indicated.[9] These are triggers, not prophecies, and they work only inside a supportive dasha. A transit trigger in a dasha with no connection to the 7th usually brings a proposal, a meeting or a talk, not a wedding. Check live positions with the Janam Kundali Calculator.
Jupiter Transit and Marriage
Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, so its transit acts like a seasonal switch. Practitioners watch Jupiter over the 7th house, the 7th lord, the natal Moon, the lagna and Venus, and the aspects it throws from the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th positions on those points. Phaladipika makes Jupiter's entry into the trine of the 7th lord's navamsha sign a marriage signal.[10] A single Jupiter pass does not guarantee a wedding, but it often brings the strongest period of movement, introductions and family discussion. See the current Jupiter transit page for how its sign change touches each rashi.
Saturn Transit and Marriage
Saturn takes about two and a half years in a sign and tests commitment, so its transit often shows readiness rather than romance. A Saturn transit over or aspecting the 7th house, the 7th lord or the Moon can slow talks, and in that stretch many people feel pressed by responsibility. The relief is built in: Saturn's slow work becomes steady and lasting once it passes, and a supportive dasha with a Jupiter trigger can still bring marriage while Saturn is in view. Check where Saturn stands relative to your Moon in the Sade Sati Calculator, and read how Sade Sati touches marriage before you worry.
The Double-Transit Idea: When Jupiter and Saturn Agree
Many practitioners use a working rule called double transit: marriage becomes likely when both Jupiter and Saturn, by position or aspect, influence the 7th house or its lord, and a relevant dasha is running. This is a modern convention built on the classical transit idea, not a verse of the library texts, so treat it as a filter and not a law. Its value is in narrowing a year to a few months. It fails when the dasha is unrelated, which is why it never replaces the dasha test. Our free calculator combines the dasha and transit layers so you do not have to track both by hand.
Navamsha (D9) Check for Marriage Timing
Navamsha is the chart of the marriage and the inner promise of a planet's strength. The classical timing rules above lean on it heavily: Phaladipika's tests use the navamsha sign of the 7th lord: Venus or the 7th lord entering its trine, Jupiter entering that trine, and the lord of that sign counted among the dasha candidates.[8][10] So when you list candidate planets, always include the navamsha dispositor of the 7th lord. The Navamsha chart guide explains how to draw and read D9, and your Janam Kundali Calculator gives it automatically.
Putting Dasha and Transit Together: An Illustrative Pattern
Here is an invented pattern, not a real chart. Suppose the 7th lord's antardasha begins in one year, Venus is in a kendra and Jupiter later transits the trine of the 7th lord's navamsha sign. The period supplies the theme, Venus supplies the capacity and Jupiter supplies the trigger, so the likely marriage window is the months when the Jupiter pass overlaps the antardasha. If Saturn also aspects the 7th lord in those months, the window may stretch, not close. This is how the calculator frames a result: a stretch of months with reasons attached. Compare it with your own dasha table in the Dasha Calculator.
Marriage Timing Windows Are Not Dates
No honest astrologer can name the day you will marry, and no calculator should. A window means the chart supports marriage during a stretch of months because several indicators agree. Whether the wedding happens inside it depends on people, family, finance and choice, which no chart replaces. Use the window for planning: start conversations, update your profile, and prepare. If a window passes without a wedding, the next supportive dasha-and-transit overlap is the next window, and a human reading can point out which one fits your circumstances.
Why Marriage Gets Delayed: 7th House Pressure and Saturn
Delay usually comes from three things working together: a pressured 7th house or lord, a dasha that is unrelated to marriage in the early adult years, and a Saturn or Rahu influence that slows the process. This is a pattern, not a verdict, and the bhang is built in: the delay ends when a supportive dasha opens, and an own-sign, exalted or benefic-supported 7th lord reduces the pressure considerably, as the earlier verses on a strong 7th lord show.[1][2] Our guide to the 7th house weak symptoms lists what to check, and why your marriage is delayed walks through each factor calmly.
Mangal Dosha and Marriage Timing
Mars in the 7th or other Manglik positions is one of the most discussed delay factors, and also one of the most exaggerated. Bhrigu Sutram says Mars in the 7th makes a person lacking in boldness or ego-prone, but no fault attaches when a benefic aspects it.[17] So the first step is to check whether the dosha is actually present and whether it is cancelled. The Manglik Dosh Calculator does both, and our Mangal Dosh in the 7th house page explains the cancellations. A cancelled dosha does not delay anything; an uncancelled one is handled by matching and simple practice, not fear.
Rahu, Ketu and Delay Factors
Rahu or Ketu influence on the 7th house or lord can bring unusual meetings, delays, or a partner from a different background. That is an observation from practice, and its softener comes with it: these shadow planets also give sudden and unconventional marriages once their own dasha supports the 7th, and a benefic aspect on the 7th calms the effect. Do not read a kaal sarp pattern as a ban on marriage; our Kaal Sarp Dosh and marriage page shows why. For the ancestral side, Pitra Dosh and marriage delay describes how the idea works and where it does not.
A Weak 7th Lord: What the Texts Flag and What Softens It
Phaladipika says that a 7th lord in an enemy or debilitated sign, combust, or aspected by malefics, or a 7th house joined or aspected by malefics, signals loss or hardship on the spouse's side.[13] That is a flag to investigate, not a sentence. In the same tradition, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra says a 7th lord that is joined or aspected by benefics or is strong gives wealth, honour and happiness,[2] so a single weakness is read against the other strengths. Check dignity and combustion with the combustion guide and the dignity guide before drawing any conclusion.
Counting Strong and Weak Planets Around the 7th and 2nd Lords
Jatakaparijata gives a counting method: the weak planets joined with the 7th lord and the 2nd lord add strain on the marriage side, while each strong benefic adds matching marital comfort.[12] The useful part is the balance. A 7th lord with one weak companion and two strong benefics reads very differently from one with only weak companions. This turns a vague worry into a tally you can actually check. The Graha Bal Calculator shows planet strengths, and the Kundali Strength Calculator gives an overall picture.
Marriage Timing for Love Marriage and Arranged Marriage
The timing logic is the same for both, but the trigger often looks different. In a love marriage, Venus, the 5th house link to the 7th and the dasha of the planet connecting them tend to matter more. In an arranged marriage, the 7th lord, Jupiter and family-house links tend to lead. First find which style your chart leans toward with the Love or Arranged Marriage Calculator, then read whether you will have a love marriage or the page on love vs arranged marriage. If the kundli score is low, see love marriage and kundali matching.
Marriage After 30: Is Late Marriage a Problem in Astrology?
Late marriage is common in modern life and is not an astrological defect by itself. Many charts have their first supportive dasha-and-transit overlap in the early 30s because education, career and relocation fill the 20s. The bhang is simple: a later window is a real window, and the maturity that comes with it often helps the marriage last. If you are past the age you expected, do not assume the chart has failed; ask which dasha is next. Our page on marriage after 30 discusses what late windows look like, and the Marriage Astrologer guide explains how a consult can help.
A 5-Line Thursday Upay for Jupiter, the Marriage Karaka
What: offer a handful of chana dal and a small piece of jaggery to a cow, then stand quietly for one minute. When: Thursday, within one hour after sunrise. Cost: free to Rs 20. How many days: 11 Thursdays. Why for you: Jupiter is the main karaka for marriage and blessings, so if your Jupiter shows as weak or your 7th lord is under pressure, steadying it first supports the whole marriage promise. This is a traditional practice, not a classical verse, and it carries no fear or deadline. No gemstone is part of it; consider a stone only after a full chart reading says it suits you.
A 5-Line Friday Upay for Venus and the 7th House
What: offer sweets worth Rs 10 to a child or at a temple, and speak kindly to one person you usually avoid. When: Friday, within one hour after sunrise. Cost: Rs 10. How many days: 11 Fridays. Why for you: Venus is the natural karaka of partnership, so if your Venus or your 7th lord is flagged weak in the chart, this small act of sweetness is the simplest daily alignment with it. It is a traditional practice, not a classical verse, and it is meant to be easy to keep; skipping a week is not a failure. A gemstone, if ever needed, comes only after a complete chart reading.
Mistakes to Avoid When Predicting Marriage Timing
The common errors are predictable. Using one rule alone, such as 'Saturn on the 7th means late', ignores the dasha. Treating a transit as a date ignores the promise. Taking an unverified birth time makes the dasha dates drift by months, so confirm the time first with our birth time accuracy guide. Reading only from the lagna and skipping the Moon, or ignoring the navamsha, throws away classical evidence. Finally, comparing yourself with a friend's chart is meaningless because every dasha sequence is different. Each of these is fixable by following the three-step order in this guide.
What You Need Before You Use a Marriage Timing Calculator
You need three things: the exact date, the birth time to the nearest minute, and the birth town. The dasha dates depend on the Moon's exact position, so a few hours of error can shift periods by months. If you are unsure of the time, find your Lagna at three nearby times and see whether it changes; our lagna-finding guide shows how. Gender is useful too, because Jupiter's role as the husband karaka is read in a woman's chart. Keep a note of any family-confirmed time to compare with the calculator.
How to Use Your Free Shadi Kab Hogi Calculator Result Wisely
Treat the output as a map of windows, not a calendar. Note the supportive dasha periods, the transit months and the reasons given. Compare them with the promise you checked in step 1; if the promise is thin and the windows are narrow, read the delay sections again and plan for patience. Use the result to choose when to start actively looking, and share it with a trusted astrologer if you want a second opinion. Open the Shadi Kab Hogi Calculator now, and keep your dasha table next to it so you can see the periods behind each window.
After the Timing: Kundli Milan, Muhurat and Foreign or Second Marriage Questions
Once a window looks promising, the next questions are about the partner and the date. Compatibility is checked with Kundali Milan and explained in our 36 Guna Milan guide. The wedding date itself is a muhurat question, handled by the Shubh Muhurat Calculator and the Vivah Muhurat by date of birth guide. If you wonder about a spouse from another country or a second marriage, use the Foreign Spouse Calculator or the Second Marriage Calculator, and read foreign spouse astrology.
Classical Sources for Marriage Timing
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives the 7th-lord promise rules,[1][2] the age-by-combination list that disproves a single marriage age,[3][4][5][6] and the sub-period results in the Jupiter and Venus periods.[14][15][16] Phaladipika gives the lagna-and-Moon reading,[7] the transit tests,[8][9] the dasha routes[10] and the warning signs on a weak 7th lord.[13] Jatakaparijata adds further dasha routes[11] and the planet-counting method.[12] Bhrigu Sutram supplies the benefic-aspect relief for Mars in the 7th.[17] Each verse is cited by number with its meaning; the e-texts of these works are licensed for personal study, so their Sanskrit is not reproduced here.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I get married according to my kundli?
Your kundli shows marriage windows, not a date. Check the 7th house, its lord, Venus and Jupiter for the promise, then find the dasha or antardasha of those planets that overlaps a Jupiter or Saturn transit on the 7th. The [free Shadi Kab Hogi Calculator](/calculators/free-shadi-kab-hogi-calculator) lists these windows from your birth details.
Can astrology tell the exact date or age of my marriage?
No. It can show the months when marriage is more likely, using dasha and transit, but personal choices, family and circumstances decide the actual date. Treat any exact date promise with caution and use windows for planning.
Is age 27 to 30 the best age for marriage in astrology?
No. That range is a social habit. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra links different ages, from the 5th year to the 33rd, to different combinations, and 27 or 30 appears for only one of them. Your own chart decides your window, so see [what age you will get married](/learn/what-age-will-i-get-married).
Which dasha is best for marriage?
The dashas of the 7th lord, Venus, Jupiter, the lagna lord, and planets in or aspecting the 7th are the main candidates. The dasha of the lord of the 7th lord's navamsha sign is also checked. The strongest and best-placed of these usually gives the window; read the [Mahadasha explained](/learn/mahadasha-explained) page.
How does Jupiter transit affect marriage timing?
Jupiter acts as a trigger when it transits the 7th house, the 7th lord, the Moon or the trine of the 7th lord's navamsha sign, especially during a supportive dasha. It brings movement and family discussion, not a guaranteed wedding. See the [Jupiter transit page](/learn/jupiter-transit-2026).
What is double transit for marriage?
It is a practitioner rule: marriage becomes likely when both Jupiter and Saturn influence the 7th house or its lord, by position or aspect, while a relevant dasha runs. It is a filter built on classical transit ideas, not a verse of the library texts, so never use it without the dasha.
Which planet causes delay in marriage?
Saturn and Rahu on or aspecting the 7th house or lord, and a weak Venus or 7th lord, are the usual suspects, but delay really comes from an unsupportive dasha in the early years. It ends when a supportive window opens; see [why your marriage is delayed](/learn/why-is-my-marriage-delayed).
Does Mangal Dosha delay marriage?
It can in some charts, but it is often over-stated and often cancelled. Bhrigu Sutram says Mars in the 7th gives no fault when a benefic aspects it. Check yours with the [Manglik Dosh Calculator](/calculators/free-manglik-dosh-calculator) before worrying.
Can I find marriage timing from date of birth alone?
Not reliably. You need the exact birth time and town too, because the Moon's position fixes the dasha dates and the lagna fixes the houses. With only a date, any prediction is general and should be treated as approximate.
Can remedies speed up marriage?
Remedies cannot change a chart, but simple practices such as the Thursday and Friday routines above steady the planets involved and keep you consistent. No remedy replaces a supportive dasha, and none should involve fear, large payments or a gemstone as the first step.
Is marriage after 30 bad in astrology?
No. Many charts have their first supportive window in the early 30s. A later window is a real window, and the maturity that comes with it often supports a lasting marriage. Read [marriage after 30](/learn/marriage-after-30-prediction).
How accurate is a free marriage timing calculator?
A calculator is as accurate as your birth data and its method. It can compute dasha and transit overlaps precisely, but it cannot judge family circumstances. Use it to find windows and a human reading to refine them; the [Marriage Astrologer guide](/blog/marriage-astrologer-near-me-online) explains when that helps.
